How much will I get paid?
Your pay as an apprentice or trainee is set by the award or enterprise agreement that covers your industry — not by us. Rates typically increase each year as you progress through your apprenticeship, and they're based on things like your age, your qualification level, and how far through your training you are.
Award wages aren't something we can quote you directly, but you can look up the exact rate for your industry using the Fair Work Ombudsman.

Incentives
There's real financial support available to help you through your apprenticeship — on top of your wage. Here's what's currently on offer.
- Financial support for apprentices
Key Apprenticeship Program (KAP)
Training in New Energy or Housing Construction toward a Certificate III or higher on the Priority List? You could receive up to $10,000 in support, paid at the 6, 12, 24 and 36-month marks and on completion — $2,000 per payment full-time, $1,000 part-time. Your employer needs to be able to give you genuine hands-on experience in the relevant sector.
Australian Apprentice Training Support Payment
If you're working toward a Certificate III or higher in an occupation on the Priority List, you may be eligible for payments at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months — $625 each for full-time apprentices, and $315/$310 for part-time.
Living Away From Home Allowance (LAFHA)
Moved away from your parents' or guardian's home for the first time to do your apprenticeship, and working toward a Certificate II or higher? You could receive $125.52 a week in your first year, $94.14 in your second, and $47.07 in your third.
Australian Apprenticeship Support Loans
A loan to help with everyday costs while you train — up to $27,048 (2026–27), paid in monthly instalments. You won't start repaying until you're earning above $69,528 (2026–27), and you get a 20% discount on the loan if you complete your apprenticeship.

- NT Government incentives
NT Workwear & Gear Bonus
In your first year, you could get NT Government funding to help cover safety gear, tools and workwear — $1,000 for priority apprenticeships and traineeships, or $300 for non-priority.
To be eligible, you need to be a full-time, part-time or school-based apprentice or trainee in your first year, have a registered NT Training Contract, be enrolled in a Certificate II or above listed on the NT Apprenticeships and Traineeships database, and not have received the bonus before (even for a different apprenticeship or traineeship). Residency and visa requirements also apply.
Travel & Accommodation Subsidy
If your off-the-job training isn't available locally and you need to travel away from home to attend, you may be eligible for help through the NT Government's Travel and Accommodation Subsidy Scheme — covering a travel subsidy, a transfer subsidy (getting between the airport or bus terminal and your accommodation), and an accommodation subsidy. This applies whether your training is delivered elsewhere in the NT or interstate.
